THE BUXTON branch of the Royal British Legion is appealing for poppy sellers in the run-up to Remembrance Sunday.
The branch will be holding street collections around Buxton on Saturday November 5 and Saturday November 12.
Anyone over the age of 16, who can spare a few hours to help raise money for ex-service men and women and their dependants, is asked to meet at the Buxton branch headquarters, Hardwick Hall, Hardwick Street, at 10am.
Collections will also be taking place in Morrisons from Wednesday November 2, and in Spring Gardens Centre from Monday November 7.
A poppy shop will be situated at Lloyds TSB from November 7 for poppy purchases and wreath collections.
The Royal British Legion, which this year marks its 90th anniversary, provides financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the Armed Forces, and their dependants.
The Poppy Appeal, arguably the nation’s most important annual appeal, raises half of the funds the Legion needs to carry out its welfare and benevolent work,
