Appeal following Glossop assault

Police are appealing for a man to come forward to help with their enquiries following an assault in Glossop.

On Sunday, July 15 at around 3.40am, a 37-year-old man was assaulted on High Street East. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to Tameside Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

Police would like to trace a man who intervened in the assault as it is believed he will have information vital to the enquiry.

He is described as white, 5ft 1ins tall, of a muscular build with a shaved head. He was wearing a light coloured short-sleeved shirt and dark coloured trousers. He was last seen walking towards the town centre.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault and remains in police custody. A 29-year-old old man has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

A 22-year-old old woman and a 26-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and are being questioned by police.
