New Mills’ former police station could be given a new lease of life as four apartments.
CSV Developments Ltd has submitted plans to High Peak Borough Council to turn Hurst Lea House, on Hurst Lea Road, into three one-bedroom apartments on the ground floor and one two-bedroom apartment on the second floor, with four car-parking spaces.
Built in the 19th century, it was originally the liberal club and then a doctors surgery, before being used as a police station between 1993 and 2017.
Documents submitted on behalf of the application state how the building is of no particular architectural quality, but is of sufficient character to merit retention within the conservation area.
They add: “The two-bedroom apartment to the first floor would consist of an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area, bathroom and a utility room.
“A small existing roof terrace will be available for use by the first floor flat.”
