OLDER residents in Hayfield are in for a treat later this month when the annual Wright Turner Party is held.
The event will take place on Saturday April 28 at St Matthew’s Church Hall, Church Street, Hayfield.
Those attending will be greeted at 4.15pm by Hayfield Parish Council chairman Cllr Eva Hodgson.
Tea will be served at 4.30pm, followed by speeches by VIP guests.
Entertainment and a sing-a-long will be provided by ‘Huggy’ on his electric organ and accordion.
The event is open to Hayfield residents over the age of 60.

Wright Turner was a resident of Hayfield who held a party for his friends each year.
Even after he left the village and went on to become Mayor of Salford he returned each year to host a party for his friends.
When he died he left a bequest for a party to be held each year and the tradition has continued for around 150 years.
