A Peak District village hall committee has been celebrating after receiving a lottery grant of more than £7,000.

Litton Village Hall Management Committee have been awarded £7,291 from the Big Lottery Fund Awards for All for a project to replace the hall’s worn-out floor with a new covering throughout the ground floor.

The hall is hired out for a variety of uses, including exercise classes, weekly doctors surgeries, table tennis, toddler groups and for well dressing, and continual use has caused the wood laminate floor to become too thin to sand down and too rough to re-seal.

It is now hoped that once the project is complete, it will lead to new enquiries throughout the village and wider area for hiring the hall.
