Vulnerable and older residents will benefit from additional services to help them live safely and independently at home thanks to new Derbyshire County Council funding.

The council has approved £15,000 to support its Handy Van Network which carries out a range of free safety and crime-prevention services in eligible residents’ homes.

The work includes including fire safety checks, general maintenance, security improvements, DIY and fitting fire alarms.

The additional funding has come from the council’s communities budget.
