Present Company reprises Sondheim musical 27 years after city debut

Derbyshire based Present Company will stage the iconic musical A Little Night Music for the second time at a city's theatre.

The Stephen Sondheim classic opens at Derby Theatre this evening (Thursday, January 28) and runs until Saturday, January 30.

This was the show with which the company made its debut at the theatre back in 1989. Since then Present Company has staged 70 other musicals, operettas and operas for more than 300 performances.

A Little Night Music has everything: first love...last love...puppy love...pistols at dawn, not forgetting the hit song Send In The Clowns.

Jean Gemmell, who celebrates more than 50 years as a director, has again brought together some of the best amateur singers from the East Midlands for the show.
