The concert on August 20 follows their critically acclaimed residency at the Edwardian theatre last year.

Two generations of the Strauss family, steeped in tragedy and feuds, wrote beautiful and enduring melodies at a time of political chaos and upheaval.

For Buxton’s concert entitled The Last Waltz, prepare to be whisked away to an opulent world where the soundtrack and story is one of a society that danced and drank champagne, seemingly without a worry in the world.

Joining the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra to enchant with stories of some of the best loved 19th Century music will be Classic FM presenter John Suchet.

Musical direction and violin will come from the leader of the orchestra James Clark.

The programme will feature some of the most popular compositions from the Strauss dynasty, from the instantly recognisable Blue Danube Waltz to the jaunty Tritsch-Tratsch Polka. Tales from Vienna Woods has a short flute cadenza evoking birdsong. The rousing Radetzky March will fill ears with the explosive and celebratory rhythms of the victorious Battle of Custoza.
