Magical performance of Shakespeare comedy

Popular drama company Chapterhouse Theatre will be presenting Shakespeare's best-loved romantic comedy

A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Buxton this month.

Audiences will be whisked away on a thrilling journey to the most magical of forests where they will meet star-crossed lovers, playful fairies and hilarious travelling players.

Shakespeare’s magical tale tells the story of two sets of lovers who escape to the forest to elope. They soon become entangled in a greater love triangle as a fairy king and his queen fight a bitter dispute.

Beautifully designed Elizabethan costumes, a wonderful new musical score and enchanting woodland creatures go to make this an evening of unmissable summer theatre.

Other drama at the Pavilion Arts Centre includes Lennon Through a Glass Onion (September 4 at 7.30pm), following its off-Broadway success. The show is a celebration of the genius and music of John Lennon which offers an insight into the essence of the astonishing talent of one of the world’s most treasured icons. Part concert and part biography, the show features 31 hits of Lennon/ McCartney.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is on Wednesday, August 31, at 7.30pm in Buxton’s Pavilion Arts Centre. Tickets £10 to £14, discounts available.
