The fundraising event’s sponsors have donated a Haibike Q Race SL road bike which will be raffled as part of the Flagg Cycle Challenge.

Dean Poole, of Chesterfield’s award-winning JE James’s store, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting this great event for the second year running and thought we’d give riders and supporters of the hospice a chance to get their hands on this great prize.”

The bike is being raffled as part of fundraising efforts as cyclists have already begun signing up for the Flagg Challenge’s 25-mile and 50-mile charity rides.

The Flagg Challenge 50-miler sets off from the hospice from 9am, on Sunday, July 26, with breathtaking views including Chatsworth House and climbs through Sheldon, Birchover and Stanton-in-the-Peak.

Entrants receive sponsor forms, fundraising tips and maps after paying a £22 fee.

The route includes Baslow, Ashford-in-the-Water, Flagg, Monyash, and Rowsley before returning to Ashgate Hospice.

DT reporter and ride organiser Jon Cooper said: “Both the 25-miler and 50-miler are tough tests because the Peak District offers some unforgiving climbs. But if riders commit to pledges and pull in the sponsors and raffle ticket sales too there can be no greater motivation than knowing their efforts on the road will be converted into much need support for the hospice.”

Raffle tickets will also be available at forthcoming hospice events.
