An eager Twitter user who opened the doors of his Cadbury’s advent calendar early, found one of them came with an awkwardly timed message.

The majority of people have only just started digging into advent calendars across the country and there are those who opted to go with Cadbury’s who have already spotted an awkward problem behind one of the doors.

The treat filled calendars offering the trademark milk chocolates each morning are always hugely popular and after only several days in everything seems to be going off without a hitch.

But one fan who couldn't help but rush ahead took to social media to flag an issue lurking behind door number four, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

The message in question was discovered by someone who literally couldn't wait to open their calendar.

As well as a chocolate, the doors also contain festive messages, one of which read: "Give hugs at Christmas."

The sweet sentiment was questioned given the current situation and advice from the experts, as Twitter user @Scottygb joked: "Chris Whitty said don’t, Cadbury’s," before adding: "It's literally in all this year's advent calendar poor them."

Professor Chris Whitty, the UK government's Chief Medical Adviser, has advised those enjoying Christmas not to hug their elderly relatives as "they want to survive to get hugged again".

When questioned by the Mirror's deputy political editor Ben Glaze about the relaxation of the Covid measures over the festive period, Professor Whitty said: "Would I say people should hug and kiss their elderly relatives, no I would not."
