Who can you spot taking on the Peak District's Stanage Edge over the years?

Over the years Stanage Edge has welcomed many visitors who want to climb to the summit and take in the impressive views over the Peak District and out towards High Peak and Sheffield.

Although the edge reaches only 25 metres in height it is one of the most famous UK climbing venues: aside from having lots of major towns nearby, it is home to the route Right Unconquerable which, when first climbed by Joe Brown in 1949, was considered a milestone achievement in British climbing.

Take a look back at these archive pictures – some going back to the 1960s – of people taking in the gritstone views.
