In 2009 three local members of parliament managed to get themselves lost on Kinder Scout and it required the assistance of the four High Peak mountain rescue teams to bring them safely back to the valley. Tom Levitt, MP for High Peak had invited Charlotte Atkins, MP for Staffordshire Moorlands and Angela Smith, MP for Sheffield Hillsborough, to join him for a walk on Kinder Scout. Unfortunately, a mishap occurred resulting in a call-out for Buxton, Kinder, Glossop and Edale mountain rescue teams.
In 2009 Buxton Waitrose Store Duty Manager Dan Hopkinson, presented Roger Bennett, Treasurer of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, with a cheque for £601 which was raised through the community matters scheme by shoppers
Proceeds from a charity darts marathon which took place at the Pack Horse in Chapel-en-le-Frith in 2009 being presented to Nick Pilling of Blythe House Hospice and Peter Chambers and John Mottram of Kinder Mountain rescue receive donations from Sharon Cox and Nick Ratcliffe
