Pharmacy chain Boots is offering NHS covid-19 vaccinations at three of its Derbyshire branches from Saturday.

The Buxton store joins sites at Derby Intu and Alfreton in becoming the latest to offer the vaccinations.

Boots pharmacists will administer the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine as the retailer continues its mission to support NHS England to vaccinate the nation, with 25 Boots sites across the country now taking part.

Nick Sunderland, Programme Director for Vaccines at Boots, said: “Our pharmacy teams in Derbyshire are hugely excited by the opportunity to help their local community by offering the COVID-19 vaccine instore.

Boots opened its first vaccination site in Halifax in January and has helped more than 60,000 patients from the local community receive their first vaccine at the store.

Patients will be invited directly by the NHS to book their COVID-19 vaccination appointment at the Boots Derby, Buxton and Alfreton pharmacies.

The Buxton Boots site is the latest vaccination site in the High Peak.

Chapel-en-le-Frith’s Thornbrook Surgery began offering vaccinations at its Thornbrook Road site at the start of January.

This was followed by a site being opened in Buxton, after the town’s four GP practices joined forces to create a hub at Buxton Medical Practice.

Latest data from the Government shows more than 24 million people in England have now received their first dose of the vaccine.
