Morans Opticians on Market Street, New Mills and Stoker Opticians on Grove Parade, Buxton are delivering spectacles to those in need, including older members of the community and high-risk patients.

Staff from both practices are travelling free of charge to the doors of patients who cannot visit the practice due to the lockdown, even delivering contact lenses and solution to those who need it.

Morans optometrist Aled Brassington said: “The wellbeing of our patients is our highest priority, so these measures are about ensuring the health of those in the local area is maintained during this period of uncertainty.

“We hope by extending our services beyond our normal capacity will allow our patients to follow government guidelines of staying at home, whilst retaining peace of mind in their eye health.”

He added: “Our eyes are one of our most valued assets, so it’s vitally important that we stay open for emergency appointments only and guarantee that our patients are receiving the same level of care attention, even in these testing times.

“All of our thoughts go out to all of those affected by Covid-19 and we hope we can continue to support our community for as long as possible.”

Equipment, stock and furniture used by staff are being regularly disinfected to ensure a safe environment for emergency appointments.

Stoker optometrist Abigail West said: “We just want what is best for our patients, whether that be in their eye health or just seeing a friendly face and someone they know.

“Even during these challenging times it’s important that we keep our health at the top of the agenda.”
