Buxton Museum reopens tomorrow – with bookable visitor slots

Buxton Museum reopens tomorrow (Tuesday) - with refreshed exhibitions and a ‘very different’ visitor experience.

Guests will no longer be able to turn up on the door but will have to book 30-minute slots - with up to six people from one household allowed in together.

Once inside the building visitors are expected to use hand-sanitiser, wear a face mask and provide their details for the Covid-19 track and trace system.

A one-way system is also in place and anyone inside the museum is expected to keep a two-metre distance from others.

The museum is open from Tuesday to Friday with available slots from 10am until midday and then 2pm until 3pm. The museum will close at 4pm.

As part of its reopening the museum is asking the public for their lockdown memories - documenting the pandemic in Buxton for future generations.

The museum needs stories, experiences and objects relating to everyday life in the town.

Anyone interested should email their suggestions - which will be considered by museum staff.

Those taking part could include the following:

*Something they made, something they wore or something that kept them safe

*Photographs they took of everyday life - with information about why they took them

*Short videos or vlogs capturing their thoughts, moment or ‘a day in the life’ - however it should not be longer than 5 minutes

*Written thoughts, poems or music recalling their life in lockdown
