Entertaining footage shows 23 staff - including teachers, teaching assistants and office staff - throwing the eggs to each other from one garden to another - until they reach the school.

The school had the eggs delivered with help from Morrisons and Buxton’s street by street COVID-19 support group.

Headteacher Anthony Tierney greets the children at the beginning of the video from his back garden with his dog Betty - a six-year-old springer-collie cross - at his side.

He tells children: “We would like to wish you a happy Easter - we’ve been working together with the Buxton street-by-street team and Morrisons to get you all an Easter egg.

“You can collect your Easter egg on your daily exercise.”

Anthony then sets the ball rolling by throwing an egg - with the video cutting to a member of staff catching it in her garden.

Headteacher Anthony said: “Lots of kids came on a walk or on bikes to collect their egg and wave at the window - it was lovely to see.

“I think they’ve missed the contact with the school.

“Lots of families have been in touch through social media posting pictures to say thanks.”

Anthony added that though it was ‘strange for everyone at the moment’ the school had been sending work home for locked-down pupils.

He added: “It seems to be going well - we’re getting a lot of work sent back to us.”
