Lindsay Jones, Caireen Hargreaves and Danielle Watson won the first, second and third prizes in Buxton Town Team’s second annual Christmas Shopping Crawl.

They were presented with their prizes of £1,000 in cash and vouchers from local independent businesses, £200 in cash and vouchers and £100 to spend at the Spa at the Dome respectively, at a celebration event at the Green Man Gallery last Friday evening.

Participants were asked to take a crawl map round to each of the 30 independent businesses taking part and get it marked.

Winners were then chosen in a prize draw.

And the event seems to have paid off for those businesses taking part too, with many greeting dozens of new customers.

Plans are now being made by the town’s independent businesses to launch a shop local scheme at this year’s spring fair on May 5.

“Even people who thought they knew the town well have discovered hidden treasures and revised their ideas about the range of goods and services available right here on our doorstep,” said Rachel Hoodith of Minibugs Boutique.

The Town Team would like to thank all the businesses and people who took part in the event, as well as everyone who supported the project.
