The 18th Century spa reopened its doors this month following a £70million project to revive its status as one of the crown jewels in the Peak District tourism economy.

Those who have worked to reopen the hotel say it will ultimately create 140 permanent jobs and now management company Ensana has teamed up with Buxton & Leek College to fill two vacancies.

"BLC are delighted to be partnering with the team at the Buxton Crescent Hotel and Thermal Spa and we are excited about the opportunities this will create for students and the Buxton area.”

One of the openings is for a level two commis chef to “assist in all sections of the kitchen operation and ensure that the product provided to guests is of the highest standard.”

There is also a level two hospitality apprenticeship role, officially known as a ‘food and beverage assistant’.

The college is well established as a training ground for the tourism industry, and says that the Crescent offers particularly promising career opportunities.

It is more than a quarter of a century since the Crescent was last open to the public, and tourism bosses hope its luxury appeal will generate £4.5million a year for the local economy.

It boasts 81 bedrooms, three pools including one on a rooftop, numerous wellbeing treatment areas, a fine dining restaurant, card room, bar, and the Georgian assembly rooms.

Derbyshire’s residents are entitled to discounts on overnight stays and spa products in recognition of the county council’s financial investment in the hotel.
