Fast broadband continues cross county march

High Peak MP Andrew Bingham is encouraging Chinley residents to sign up for superfast broadband to Chinley now that the quicker connection has been introduced.

The faster broadband has been implemented as part of the Digital Derbyshire programme, which is delivering broadband to those areas across Derbyshire not covered by BT, using funds allocated by the Government.

Mr Bingham said he had worked closely with Digital Derbyshire over the past few years in order to be informed about which areas they had implemented and where they were planning to make superfast broadband available.

He added: “I am very pleased that they have now installed cabinets in Chinley, so that residents here can now order superfast broadband from their Internet Service Provider.

“This is just one area they have completed out of many, and more will gain access in due course.

“I continue to push the case for those communities which are not currently in line to see an upgrade and I will not rest until everywhere in the High Peak has usable internet speeds.

“In addition to this I am now talking to other MPs about creating an all-party parliamentary group focusing on rural communications, as several of us are concerned about the situation with the hard-to-reach areas.”

Robert Rowan, Programme Manager for Digital df, said: “I would like to thank Andrew for helping to promote that Chinley is now able to get superfast broadband.

“We have a schedule of work which takes us up to the end of 2018, by which time all large communities in the High Peak will be able to access superfast broadband.”
