Northern unveils new timetable for High Peak services – with extra trains for schoolchildren

From September 14 its service between New Mills and Manchester Piccadilly will return to hourly trains Monday to Saturday.

The operator’s Buxton to Manchester service - currently running hourly Monday to Saturday - will also increase its Sunday service to hourly.

However children travelling to Buxton schools from New Mills will also benefit from additional services.

They include the following:

From New Mills Newtown 0702, 0758, 0900 and from Buxton 1434, 1534, 1600, 1636

Children travelling from Buxton to Stockport schools can use the 0701, 0759, 0859 services to Woodsmoor and Davenport stations, returning at 1522, 1622 and 1641 from Davenport.

Friends of Buxton Station chairman Dave Carlisle said: “We are not yet back to the full timetables as they were before Covid-19 but the changes proposed for September get us closer.”
