Wartime cabaret at New Mills Festival

Volunteer chaplain, the Rev Geoffrey Kennedy, aka ‘Woodbine Willie’, was one of those many unsung heroes of the First World War – until Patricia Hartshorne decided to write a song about him.

What's on.
What's on.

On Thursday September 18, the award-winning writer and performer brings to New Mills her idiosyncratic take on the Great War, as part of the New Mills Festival.

Hartshorne returns to Spring Bank Arts with ‘When The Band Begins To Play, a wartime cabaret mix of humour and horror which opened at the Buxton Festival Fringe in July.

Accompanying her will be musician Peter Dobson on piano and guitar.

Tickets for the performance at the Spring Bank centre, priced £12 (£11 concessions), are available from Spring Bank Arts on 01663 308202 or in person from High Street Books.
