The Johnny Cash Roadshow rolls into Buxton Opera House

Clive John salutes the iconic singer in The Johnny Cash Roadshow which visits Buxton Opera House on Saturday, January 24.

Performer Clive has suffered a stammer all his life since burning his hands on an electric fire at the age of two.

After years in hospital having skin grafts the surgeon recommended to his parents that Clive learn to play a musical instrument (piano) to keep his fingers supple.

Clive then progressed on to guitar as well as piano. He manages to control his stammer, which will never go away.

He first became interested in the music of Johnny Cash when a sick friend gave him a double album of the star’s greatest hits to listen to.

But it wasn’t until watching the film, Walk The Line, some time later that Clive became hooked on the Cash’s music. “I connected with the man/music so much I just knew deep down that was the way forward for my career,” he said. “The songs, attitude and style are completely right for the style of person/singer/musician I am.”

His show, which has been endorsed by Johnny Cash’s family, covers all the Man in Black’s greatest hits including Ring Of Fire and Walk the Line.
