Music for Youth is a national music education charity which supports people under 21 to perform at festivals and concerts around the country. Its prom brings 3,000 of the UK’s brightest young musicians to the stage at the iconic Royal Albert Hall.

The orchestra played at regional and national Music for Youth events and impressed the selectors who chose them from 1,250 groups to play at the prestigious event.

Derbyshire County Council’s deputy cabinet member for children’s services, Councillor Damien Greenhalgh said: “We’ve got lots of talented young musicians in Derbyshire and I’m delighted we can support music and groups like this through the Derby and Derbyshire Music Partnership.

“It provides great opportunities for young people to show off their musical ability and develop their skills.

“So I wish the PDSO all the best with their performance and hope they enjoy every minute of it.”
