Review: New Mills Band and Chapel Male Voice Choir’s concert

New Mills Band and Chapel Male Voice Choir gave a concert to a full capacity audience in New Mills Town Hall on Saturday, September 20, as part of the New Mills Festival.

It was attended by the vice-chair of Derbyshire, the mayor of High Peak and chair of of New Mills Town Council.

The compere was Janet Allen MBE and Edward Green from the choir added to the entertainment with his amusing stories.

Chapel-en-le-Frith Male Voice Choir, under the direction of their conductor Roger Briscoe and accompanied by Anne May, sang songs ranging from Welsh hymns to traditional English tunes. The band, under their musical director Matt Krening, played music from the classics to musicals. The concert ended with the band, choir and audience singing rousing choruses from The Last Night of the Proms. The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by musicians, choir and audience.
