Ice skater Margot Haglund gets goosebumps and butterflies every time she steps out on the rink these days.

It is little wonder, for the American is taking on the mantle of one of the most famous women in the cinematic world – Queen Elsa of Arendelle.

And the stars of Frozen are part of the latest Disney on Ice spectacular, which opens in Sheffield today.

She says: “It’s so wonderful. It’s a special thing to have that segment put into our show this year.

“It gives you so much energy. I think the songs are wonderful, people all ages love to sing them.

“I’ve seen young kids to adults just belting Let It Go out and I think it really resonates with people as it’s a powerful story.

“It’s about the love between two sisters and everybody has family and friends they feel that way about. Especially with Elsa, I know I can relate to that.

Margot says: “I love it. I just feel so honoured to play such a special character.

“It’s so great to see all the little girls dressed up in the dresses. It really is a family show. There are so many different aspects to the show, it really does have something for everyone.

“There are so many great areas. We start off the show with Toy Story and that’s very high energy, you get to see Jessie, Buzz and Woody and there’s a really fun Spanish number and it really starts off the show in a happy, excited way.

“We then move on to The Little Mermaid and you really do feel like you are under the sea. It’s like stepping into the movie.

“Then we move on to the second half with Cars, which is really amazing, it’s animatronic cars which come to life right out on the ice and we finish with Frozen, which I just adore.

“I’m so happy it’s here. And yes, I can build a snowman. We have Olaf in the show.

“He’s a wonderful big snowman and he always gets a big reaction when he comes out.”

A show spokesman said: “Audiences will enter the fantastical wintery world of Arendelle with royal sisters Anna and Elsa from the number one animated feature film of all time, Disney’s Frozen.

“Anna, a girl with an extraordinary heart, embarks on an epic journey with the hilarious snowman Olaf and rugged mountain-man Kristoff to find her sister, the magical Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter.”

Nicole Field, producer, says: “Our re-creation of Arendelle and the visual splendor on the ice sets the stage for the magical transformation from summer to winter.

“While it might seem obvious that Frozen is well suited for the ice, this Disney On Ice production will touch audiences emotionally through innovative show elements and world-class skating.”

In Radiator Springs, home of Cars, life-size Cars characters – Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater and the crew – take their high-octane personalities to the ice.
