Former music store boss Keith Hudson launches book of railway photographs

A north Derbyshire man has moved from record tracks to rail tracks in a new outlet for his entrepreneurial talents.

Keith Hudson, who is well known locally for his long connection with Hudsons Music Stores in Chesterfield has brought out a book.

Despite his many years in the music business, it comes as a surprise to find that his publication is about railways.

His book, entitled “The Railway Photographs of Keith Hudson”, features shots taken in his teenage years between 1957-58 and a later series of photos of Horns Bridge - these being snapped just before it was partly demolished.

Keith said: “ I was always pleased with the results of many of the photos, but, after they have lain dormant for over 50 years, the professional scanning and processing by Ted Parker, who is a well-known industrial and railway photographer, has really brought them to life.”

Over 50 of the photos were taken in the Chesterfield and Sheffield area, and others from as far afield as Scotland and Devon.

The book is available at Chesterfield Library and at railway book stores, including Bill Hudson Transport Books at Matlock station and the Midland Railway shop at Butterley, priced £15. It is available online from the publisher’s website www.parallel-lines.co.uk, with an extra £5 postage and packing charge.
