Lockdown inspires monologues for Buxton Fringe

Three monologues giving voice to women in lockdown are among the theatrical offerings in today’s online Buxton Fringe programme.

Debbie Cannon will present Three Voices, introducing the audience to Anthea who hopes to find someone she’s lost in the void of the internet, Esther who has a score to settle and is using a dinosaur to do it and Paula who is about to start a revolution. The monologues contain some swearing and are aimed at an audience of 12 years and above.

There’s another chance for festival supporters to tune into Kellie Colbert’s performance video called Root which aims to raise awareness around mental health. This piece illustrates the struggles of living with Trichotillomania, a compulsive desire to pull out one’s hair and the strain it puts on everyday life.

Musical offerings at the Fringe include award-winning guitarist Geoff Robb’s Music of the Trees which is inspired by nature with tree stories and folklore and Club Acoustic at the Fringe in which performers air songs and music which has been recorded during lockdown.
