Edd Kimber, Stacie Stewart, baked-Alaska-gate Bake off star Iain Watters and Bake-off star Howard Middleton will be among the celebrities at this weekend’s Bakewell Baking Festival.

This is the ultimate low-fi celebration of vintage and baking, a nostalgia fest packed with attractions that include cupcake and gingerbread decorating, the exciting Ocean Finance live cake decorating final, a Teddy Bear’s Picnic, chapatti making and tea appreciation.

There will be artisan bread makers, creative bakers and biscuit makers as well as a selection of hand-picked food and drink suppliers, including cheesemakers and choclatiers.

The festival, the world’s first celebration of quintessential Britishness and baking, will be one of the highlights of National Afternoon Tea Week.

Stalls selling kitchenalia bygones and retro-inspired wares will be there to tempt those with money to spend and there will be a vintage motorcar display, music and entertainment to make the event go with a swing.

The festival runs from August 14 to 16 at the Bakewell Showground. It opens on Friday night with a vintage soiree to raise money for Helen’s Trust, running from 7pm to 10pm.

Attractions on Saturday run from 10am to 6pm and 10am to 5pm. For further information, contact www.bakewellbakingfestival.co.uk
