Now back in Sheffield and teaching dance at Dronfield dance and theatre Acadamy she was delighted to be asked to choreograph the 25th anniversary production for Splinters Theatre Group.

Having joined Splinters back in 1999 as a fresh faced 15 year old, to perform in the not so well known production of ‘Robin Prince of Sherwood’, she was delighted to be asked to rejoin the production team for this special occasion.

The group always welcome members between the age of 14 and 30, to perform in their annual shows, however for this month’s production of the rock opera RENT they have invited back performers past and present both within the age bracket and above.

“Its great having the old team back together”, said Aggie. “From a cast of 18, five of us were on stage with Splinters back in 1999. I am really loving choreographing the show and although it isn’t a typical dancy production, it is very intense with lots of constant and energetic stage movement throughout and to work with such a talented group of people is just amazing”.

Based on Puccini’s La Boheme, ‘RENT’ is a rock opera that tells the story of one year in the life of friends living the Bohemian life and their struggle in modern day East Village, New York.

The story centres around Mark and Roger, two roommates. While a former tragedy has made Roger numb to life, Mark tries to capture it through his attempts to make a film.

In the year that follows, the group deals with love, loss, AIDS, and modern day life in one truly powerful story, showing how much changes or doesn’t change in the 525,600 minutes that make up a year.

Rent will be performed at the Crucible Studio Theatre from January 6 to 10. For tickets call the Sheffield Theatre box office on 0114 249 6000 or book online on sheffieldtheatres.co.uk.
