Chesterfield College students stage Little Shop of Horrors

Performing Arts students from Chesterfield College are preparing to go above and beyond their usual shows by staging a full scale musical.

The production of Little Shop of Horrors next week will be the second time the students stage a full-scale musical at the Pomegranate Theatre, following a successful Our House last year.

Filled with 1960s rock and roll and Motown-style songs, the show hits the theatre on Tuesday, June 23 and Wednesday, June 24.

A 30-strong company includes the second year BTEC performing arts students in the cast with first year students helping out with the technical side of the show.

Performing Arts lecturer Becky Parker, who is choreographing the show, said: ‘This is a very special production for us as a group. They have been working as a professional ensemble that is very focused on delivering a great performance”

Matthew Parker, 18, plays leading character, Seymour. He said: “Seymour is a very interesting and challenging, yet fun character to play.”

Performances are at 7.30pm with Wednesday matinee at 2pm. Tickets £12.50.
