Three full-scale opera productions which form the backbone of Buxton Festival will launch this weekend.

Leonore by Beethoven opens on Friday, I Capuleti E I Montecchi by Bellini on Saturday and Tamerlano by Handel on Sunday.

Sung in German with English side-titles, Leonore focuses on the triumph of married love.

I Capuleti E I Montecchi is based on the Romeo and Juliet story while Tamerlano is a drama of power, passion and betrayal.
