TICKETS are now on sale for Buxton Festival, Derbyshire’s biggest summer arts event.

From July 7-25 Buxton will host hundreds of opera, music and literary stars as well as thousands of arts lovers from all over the country.

Glyn Foley, Chief Executive of Buxton Festival, said: “For 34 years the Festival has attracted national and international audiences, drawn by its unique and high calibre performances.

“This year we welcome speakers such as Joanna Lumley, Michael Morpurgo, Lucy Fleming, Justin Webb, Michael Pennington, and Edwina Currie, as well as fully-staged operas and music concerts – there really is something for everyone.”

The Festival is most famous for its own acclaimed opera productions, and this year presents Strauss’s Intermezzo, Handel’s classic oratorio Jephtha, and a Festival Double Bill of Sibelius’s The Maiden in the Tower and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Kashchei the Immortal.
