Swashbuckling pirate fun

THE SWASHBUCKLING musical Treasure Island will feature in the Mad Hatters Music Spring Gala on Sunday June 19, 6pm, at the Pavilion Arts Centre in Buxton.

Musical Director Clare O’Neill has recruited pupils from different schools in Buxton, providing free singing lessons and giving them an opportunity to experience performing at the Arts Centre in a full-scale production.

The first half of the performance will be a selection of songs by the Youth Choir and singers from Mad Hatters Music, followed by the production of Treasure Island, produced and directed by Clare herself.

The chorus will include pupils from year three at Harpur Hill Primary School, year two at St Anne’s Primary and children from the Serpentine Nursery in Buxton.

There will be a collection for Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Tickets, priced £10, are available from the Buxton Opera House Box Office on 0845 127 2190, or via their website www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk.
