A SONG which won an MP’s vote to represent the High Peak in a Parliament-sponsored rock competition can be heard in Buxton when Buxton’s Dolls House Players present Flat on My Back Seeing Stars on Saturday June 16.
High Peak MP Andrew Bingham chose ‘The Sing-along Recession Song’ to represent his constituency in the Rock the House competition, which is judged shortly and aims to promote UK talent.
It is one of 16 original songs in Flat on My Back Seeing Stars, the musical comedy show which won the prestigious ‘Spirit of the Fringe’ award in last year’s Buxton Festival Fringe.
The show features Deirdre Costello, Jim Lampard, Emma Shanks, Victoria Jones and Alan Charnley and tells the life story of the chaotic, off the wall rock singer Victor Barstool and his on-stage squabbles with his two girl backing singers Bubble and Squeak.
Anyone attending the show at the Pavilion Arts Theatre, Buxton, on June 16 at 7.30pm will get a free ticket for Dolls House’s forthcoming new Buxton Festival Fringe show ‘Singin in the Plane’ – appearing at the Clubhouse on Saturday July 14.
For tickets to the June 16 show, contact the Buxton Opera House Box Office on 0845 127 2190.
