TWO YOUNGSTERS have made their acting debuts at this year’s Buxton Festival.

Friends Libby Fraser and Caitlyn Smith, who both attend Buxton Infants School, have landed supporting roles in the opera comique Mignon, which is in the middle of a five-show run at Buxton Opera House.

Libby, 6, whose great-grandfather is Malcolm Fraser, one of the Festival’s founders, portrays the main character Mignon as a little girl.

Mum Lucy said: “Everyone has been singing her praises. She is a real natural on stage.”

Caitlyn, 7, is part of the chorus and plays two roles in the production. Her mum, Vicky Preece, added: “Caitlyn hasn’t done anything like this before. We are all very proud of her.”

Mignon, a Buxton Festival production, continues on July 22 and 26 at 7.15pm.
