Searching for young panto stars

Have your say

BUXTON Opera House is recruiting young talent for its 2012/13 production of Peter Pan.

They are searching for 14 young male actors aged between eight and 15 and under 5’ 7” in height to play the Lost Boys. This includes four young actors to take the roles of Wendy’s brothers, Michael and John.

Also sought are 16 juvenile dancers (male or female) over 4’ 8” in height to dance and play a variety of roles including Red Indians, mermaids and pirates. A small contribution towards expenses is payable for each performance.

Auditions will take place on Saturday June 30 at Buxton Opera House, and the theatre is currently inviting expressions of interest from young people (who will be aged under-16 on January 1, 2013) wanting to audition.

Rehearsals will begin over a weekend in October and then run intensively from November 19 to December 11 (some days away from school with permission will be necessary). The show opens on December 12 and closes on January 1. The juvenile cast and chorus will be split into two teams so they can share the performances. All chaperones are fully CRB checked.

Parents should contact Libby Coverley at Buxton Opera House on 01298 72050 to request a registration form. For more details, call Channel Theatre Productions on 01843 587950.
