Schools join voices at The Palace

THE wonderful sounds of the Tideswell Male Voice Choir and Sir Richard Arkwright’s Masson Mills Band will once again combine to present a spectacular evening of Christmas music at the Palace Hotel, Buxton on Sunday, December 11 at 7.00pm.

Joining them will be the angelic voices of the Harpur Hill Primary School and New Mills Primary School Choirs. The programme will include traditional festive music sprinkled with novel Christmas songs to get the season off to a wonderful start. All proceeds from the concert will go to Blythe House Hospice

The highly acclaimed Tideswell Male Voice Choir has over the past five years raised more than £40,000 for local cancer charities as well as Help for Heroes and the RAF Benevolent Fund.

Dennis Kay, Principal Conductor and Director of Music, of Tideswell Male Voice Choir, said: “I would urge everyone to come along and celebrate the Christmas season with a musical evening featuring contemporary and traditional festive pieces, plus a few surprises. ”

Based in Matlock, Sir Richard Arkwright’s Masson Mills Band concentrates on the organisation of and participation in high profile charity concerts for local and regional charities. The band has toured in the USA and Europe and recorded several CDs.

For the first time, choirs from Harpur Hill Primary School and New Mills Primary School will feature as part of the festive ensemble.

Miss Claire Whetstone, Headteacher of New Mills Primary School, commented: “The children are particularly excited at the prospect of singing at the Palace Hotel and being part of this wonderful Christmas concert.
