Award-winning band Roving Crows are bringing superb musicianship and inexhaustible energy to Chinley.
They draw their musical influences from genres such as folk, ska, reggae and klezmer. With members of the band hailing from Ireland, they also boast an original Celtic vibe.
Described by Mike Harding, BBC broadcaster as a “really individual Celtic folk rock group” their line-up features lead singer Paul O’Neill on guitar, Caitlin Barrett on fiddle and vocals, Tim Downes-Hall on the drums and newest band member, Loz, Shaw on bass. They all get involved with backing vocals which gives a really rich group sound.
They have won several awards includingTop Celtic Rock Band and Top Fiddle Player at the 2012 Irish Music Awards and Best Folk Act at the Exposure Music Awards.
The band will play Chinley Community Centre on October 15 at 8pm as part of the Blackbrook Valley Arts group’s Live and Local programme of events for 2016.
