Man Booker prize-winner Howard Jacobson’s hilarious homage to the Manchester of his youth, The Mighty Walzer, has been adapted for the stage.
The play is on at the city’s Royal Exchange until Saturday, July 30.
Oliver Walzer is shy, bookish and Jewish. He doesn’t know how to talk to girls. But he’s an ace table tennis player who channels his adolescent frustration into the game. His life changes when he meets a heartbreaker and is offered a place at Cambridge.
