A HOPE VALLEY pub is giving budding musicians the chance to showcase their talents.
The Cheshire Cheese Inn, on Edale Road in Hope, is to begin hosting open mic folk sessions on the third Thursday of every month, starting on February 21.
The 16th-century inn already hosts folk band sessions on the first Thursday of every month, with additional band sessions during the school holidays.
Landlady Laura Offless, 38, said: “We’ve had the band nights on for over a year now, and these are usually well-attended.
“I’ve had a number of people asking me if there was a chance for them to get involved, and that was the inspiration for us to start up the new ‘open mic’ session nights.”
Two members from folk band ‘Dogwood Rose’, who regularly perform at the Cheshire Cheese Inn, will compère the new open mic nights.
The folk band nights are free of charge, and the new open mic nights will also be free to watch and join in.
