CHORAL singer Emma Shanks will try something completely different on Saturday when she turns her considerable talent to becoming a rock chick backing singer.
Emma, from Buxton, who sings choral and barbershop in the award-winning Heartbeat Chorus, answered an SOS from Dolls House Productions to appear in its Buxton Festival Fringe show ‘Flat on My Back Seeing Stars’ at The Grove Hotel, Grove Parade, Buxton, on July 23 at 8pm.
She is one of two mischievous female backing singers supporting rock legend Victor Barstool - the other back-up girl is Buxton-based university student Victoria Jones.
Emma said: “It is the first time I have done anything like this but I jumped at the chance.”
A spokesman for Dolls House Productions said: “One of our back-up singers had to reluctantly pull out and with just a few weeks remaining Emma answered our SOS.”
The show details Barstool’s topsy-turvy music career and his obsessive girlfriend Wanda K Lutz, played by Deirdre Costello, is on hand to wise up the audience to his problems which include dating serial killers and coping with stage fright.
Tickets, priced £5 (children and concessions £3), can be booked by calling 01298 214454.
