A GRAND evening of musical entertainment is promised as two Peak District choirs come together to perform “Songs from the Shows”.
Over 40 members of Chapel-en-le-Frith Male Voice Choir, under the baton of musical director Roger Briscoe, will join together with Dark Peak Orchestra to sing a brand new repertoire, featuring music from Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar, Paint Your Wagon and other top musicals.
Chapel Male Voice Choir is widely recognised across Derbyshire as one of the premier concert male voice choirs.
The Dark Peak Orchestra and Concert Band is an ensemble of young musicians from the Glossop, New Mills, Chapel-en-le-Frith and Hayfield areas.
The Dark Peak Music Trust provides opportunities for players from beginner to advanced levels to play together in a carefully structured family of ensembles.
With over 150 members, the emphasis is on high standards of achievement in an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere, giving young players the best opportunities to develop their interest in music and the friendships that are born out of playing together.
The concert will be performed at St John’s Church, Buxton, on Sunday February 26, at 7.30pm.
Tickets, priced £7.50 (under-16s free), are available on the door or via Gary Mellor on 01298 812258 or Geoff Read on 01298 71234.
