Stockport Symphony Orchestra’s next concert will have a Scandinavian flavour.

Taking place at Stockport Town Hall on Saturday at 7.30pm, the concert will feature popular works by Carl Nielsen and Jean Sibelius.

Among them will be Nielsen’s Flute Concerto, written in 1926, reflecting the modernistic trends of the 1920s. It will be performed by orchestral member Lindsay Grainger, an established flautist who has played with the Stockport orchestra for 12 years and has appeared before as concerto soloist.

Tickets, priced £9 (£7 concessionary), are available from the box office at Stockport Symphony Orchestra, 108 Oxford Road, Macclesfield, SK11 8JG, on 07947 474574 or on the door. Accompanied children go free.
