High Peak’s international award-winning young choristers are getting into the festive mood, as excitement builds for their winter programme of concerts.

And the 100-strong members of the Kinder Children’s Choirs are aiming to make this Christmas the best ever.

The season began on Saturday with the combined choirs and trainees singing at Tideswell Parish Church.

This will be followed by a candlelight Christmas concert on Friday December 20 with the concert choir, youth choir and junior choirs performing at Chapel-en-le-Frith Methodist Church, Town End, at 7.30pm.

A family Christmas concert at the Pavilion Gardens’ Octagon in Buxton on Sunday December 22, at 4pm, will round-off the festive programme, complete with Santa and the celebrity donkey Eyore.

Choir founder/director Joyce Ellis said: “This year we have many Alumni choristers coming to join in the Christmas selection box concert at the Octagon on December 22.

“These former members think that it isn’t Christmas until they have been to a Kinder choir Christmas concert, sung the traditional carols, danced the Schneewalzer and joined in with the Christmas selection box chosen from everyone’s favourite Christmas tunes.”

Tickets, priced £10 and £8 (children £5), are available on 01663 743041 or from Brooke Taylor’s Solicitors, The Quadrant, Buxton, or Hand Picked by Henrietta (Chapel concert only).
