The musical soundscapes of Kate in the Kettle come to New Mills’ Providence United Reformed Church on Saturday, October 11.
Award-winning Scottish multi-instrumentalist and composer Kate Young is best known in the UK for her work with fellow folk supergroup fiddle-singers Eliza Carthy, Bella Hardy, and Lucy Farrell, on their 2013 MOJO top ten folk album ‘Laylam’. Accompanying Kate is Marit Fält, a Swedish-Norwegian composer and virtuoso låt-mandola player.
Kate in the Kettle embrace old customs and new ideas, merging sounds from different lands and weaving them into their own tapestry. Whilst drawing upon past folk music traditions, the songs written by Kate are driven by her passion for the natural world, and concern about modern-day environmental issues.
The concert starts at 8pm. Tickets are £10, available from High Street Books, New Mills, SK22 4AL, and online at www.WeGotTickets.com/jackdawstone
