Spring is in the air and so is the musical Honk!
A large cast of local children and adults are ready to quack, waddle and hatch their way onto the stage at New Mills Art Theatre.
Director Louise Coffey and her ‘Ducklings’ are rehearsing with boundless energy to bring the show to the theatre.
This is the first time (NMAODS) New Mills Amateur & District Operatic & Dramatic Society have produced Honk! - a musical adaptation of the classic Hans Christian Andersen story of The Ugly Duckling.
Set in a farmyard, Honk! tells the tale of Ugly, an unusually large chick, who makes a strange Honk! sound, instead of a Quack!
Ugly is rejected by everyone except his mother, a crafty tomcat who befriends him out of hunger and several other characters.
The creation won the Best Musical Olivier award for British song writing duo Styles & Drew.
Honk! is a show that all the family will enjoy – clever, funny and heart-warming and carries a message of tolerance.
Tickets priced at £9 and £7 are on sale now, available online from www.newmillsarttheatre.ticketsource.co.uk, via the box office which is open on Sundays from 1pm to 3pm from May 24 or on the door prior to performance.
