Talented young musicians from across the area will combine for a seasonal programme of Christmas favourites, jazz and songs from the musicals at Buxton’s Octagon next week.
The Peak District Music Centres’ (PDMC) annual gala concert, taking place at the Pavilion Gardens venue on Friday December 6, at 7.30pm, promises a magical evening featuring music of the highest standard.
Nine ensembles, featuring musicians between the ages of eight and 18, will take to the stage, including the Peak District Wind Band, Peak District Big Band and Peak District Youth Choir, as well as intermediate, junior and beginner ensembles.
Hannah Watson, Peak District Music Centres Co-ordinator, said: “Those who regularly attend PDMC events know to expect an evening of quality music making and entertainment.
“These gala concerts provide an excellent opportunity to see in snapshot the progression and evolution which players can experience across many years of membership of PDMC.”
Tickets for the performance will be available on the door, priced £7 for adults and free for children under-16 when accompanied by an adult.
The evening will include a raffle, prizes for which include complimentary tickets to see the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra at the Bridgewater Hall.
Parents and players of the Peak District Wind Band are also organising a cake sale to raise funds for their upcoming tour to Leipzig in 2014.
Peak District Music Centres is a charitable organisation which provides a wide range of musical opportunities for young instrumentalists of all ages, standards and disciplines.
