Folk music on your doorstep

AWARD-WINNING folk musicians Ross Couper and Tom Oakes are to perform at Chinley Community Centre in conjunction with Blackbrook Valley Arts arts and Live and Local.

Couper’s explosive fiddle playing lies at the heart of some of the biggest acts on the Scottish folk scene including 2009 Scots Folk Award-winning Bodega (Band of the Year). He’s also performed with leading Scottish contemporary folk band the Peatbog Faeries.

Oakes is a multi award-winning guitarist and flautist who as well as being a founder member of Auvo Quartet is also known for his work with Luke Daniels (Riverdance) and 2009 BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner Damien Barber.

Terry Jackson, of Blackbrook Valley Arts, said; “Ross and Tom are among the contemporary folk scene’s most accomplished musicians and this is a fantastic chance to see them on your doorstep.”
