BUDDING film makers are being given a chance to see their work screened at a local film festival being held as part of this year’s Buxton Festival Fringe
Entries have already started to arrive for the third annual Buxton short film competition, ‘Open Shorts’.
A selection of the best films - including the winner - will be screened on July 16 during the 2011 Buxton Film Festival, run in conjunction with the town’s Fringe season.
Previous Open Shorts winners include the BAFTA winner ‘September’.
The standard is high and, unlike other short film competitions, all entries that are received will be screened at some time during the film festival, which opens on July 6 and closes a fortnight later on July 20. All screenings take place in The Signal Room at The Railway, Bridge Street, Buxton.
Martin Wood, of organisers Buxton Film, said: “We want to provide an opportunity for new film makers to screen their work. We want ‘Open Shorts’ to encourage everyone with a desire to make films to take advantage of this opportunity.
“In the past we have had entries from individuals working with fairly basic technologies through to semi-professional outfits using large crews and good studio facilities.”
The closing date for entries to Open Shorts 2011 is May 2. For entry forms and terms & conditions, visit www.buxtonfilm.org.uk.
